Audio slideshow…Moroccan horsemen
From a trip to northern Morocco where local Berber tribesmen compete proudly in a medieval-like tournament which lasts several days. During the competition they are judged on both riding skills and quality of horse.
Countryside festival
This picture was taken while covering an outdoor music festival in aid of the Countryside Alliance (which featured Eric Clapton, Roger Waters and Steve Winwood). In the end it was used in the Money section of the Sunday Times.
Grand Committee Room
I sometimes do commissions inside the Houses of Parliament. I’ve just done one for an all-party parliamentary group working with charities on a particular health issue. The event was held in the Grand Committee Room just off Westminster Hall. This room is more used to holding committee meetings and debates alongside the House of Commons. It has also been the venue for speeches to MPs by presidents and world leaders including Gorbachev, Mandela and the Dalai Lama.
Lagos, Nigeria
Double-page in the Lufthansa inflight magazine this month as part of a travel feature on Nigeria. Actually, it’s a really interesting country to photograph - I must go back there soon….
London Rollergirls
This is part of a set of pictures I took at the weekend for a feature on the contact sport of Roller Derby. It’s based on two teams roller skating around an oval track and involves a lot of blocking and barging. Still almost unheard of in the UK, the formation of a league seems to be gaining momentum and apparently the sport is alive and well in over twenty other countries. I’m also told it started going in some form back in the 1880s!
the Voice of Rock…
Stevie Wonder once called him his favourite white singer. In the late ’80s the KLF featured him on their hit “America – What Time is Love?” and dubbed him ‘The Voice of Rock’. Listen to RH Chili Peppers and you’ll hear the influence. Glenn Hughes has been around since he was in bands Trapeze and Deep Purple in the ’70s and nobody does hard rock, soul and funk in the same mix like he does. So it was down to the smallish Islington Academy last night for his London date. Phenomenal stuff! Also looking forward to his other band Black Country Communion.
First post – welcome!

Here’s an image from a portrait session I did with Gerald Ronson, head of Heron Int.
