Images from recent work for a hotel which is near the edge of Hyde Park in London. The commission was to photograph the surrounding area for framed prints to be used throughout the hotel as part of the interior refurbishment.

Just back from a month in Nigeria, this time mainly covering the north.

Once the tallest building in London, the cylindrical BT Tower (also once known as the Post Office Tower) was opened in 1965 and had shops, viewing galleries and a rotating restaurant at the top. An IRA bomb exploding in the mens toilets and general security issues after that led to the tower being officially closed to the public in 1981. It’s still closed, although occasionally used for corporate events. I’ve been doing some work with Open-City, which is a great organisation that promotes excellence in design in London through working with architects to create more environmentally-friendly buildings and public spaces. The Tower was the venue and reception for the launch of the annual Open House London weekend (which gives people rare access to buildings not usually open to the public) and meant I went up the tower for the first time and well….quite a view!

An educational feature

From a commission last week for the Independent newspaper. The feature was about the positive aspects of life while your children are at university. The brief was to photograph the mother and daughter who had been interviewed for the story.

Glastonbury…..yes there was mud

Just a few photos in an audio sildeshow from last weekend at Glastonbury. Seemed extra hard work this year, probably as from start to finish there was a lot of mud to get through.
Having said that, always look forward to and enjoy being away in the Glastonbury ‘bubble’ for the weekend. Headliners this year were U2, Coldplay and Beyonce.

Just back from Nigeria

I’ve just arrived back after nearly a month in Nigeria. First part of a commission for Bradt travel guides working on updates and photography for a new edition of the book Nigeria – The Bradt Travel Guide. A lot has changed since the last edition, especially in Lagos. A great trip – not that easy but I managed to cover most of what I’d set out to do.

The first music job I’ve done this year. As I’m into all sorts of music it’s great photographing bands. It’s different to all the other areas of work I cover but I love the variety of it all. From Friday night at Wembley Arena, a great band – Foo Fighters. (click on images)

King’s Cross St Pancras

Passing through the Eurostar terminal at St Pancras, I couldn’t resist taking some pictures of the newly redeveloped station. The creation of the ‘Barlow shed’ (named after William Barlow, Engineer in Chief to the Midland Railway Company) had been one of the greatest feats of Victorian engineering. For a long time it held the record for the largest enclosed space in the world. Some great restoration work and a clean, light, spacious station. (click on images)
